Phone Hammock by Phone Shield
Our Design Team divided into four different groups to begin our design process. Two groups worked on the Phone Hammock and the other two groups worked on the phone cases.

Our goal was to design a Phone Hammock made from Anti-Microbial Cloth that would allow the phone to be supported off of the ground while wall charging, be easy to transport and use, and allow people the ability to wash their phones whenever it needed it.
​
These are the first two mockups of the Phone Hammock.
After the first prototypes were built, we started the second round of prototypes made of cloth. We decided to use the charging cord or string to support the Phone Hammock while wall charging as shown below
Our second prototype testing showed that the cord and string was too cumbersome to be used by the public. This would make the Phone Hammock difficult to sell. The next round of prototypes removed the charging cord maze and string. We moved to a pocket style design and phone charging cord as support for the Phone Hammock.
While working on the pocket style Phone Hammock, we discovered that the current design puts too much pressure on the charging cord as shown above. This layout would cause the wire inside the cord to bend and break.
The next set of testing and prototypes removed the cord from the support system and we used the AC Charging Block to support the Phone Hammock as shown above. We were ready for proof of concept and tested our design around the school as shown below for a 24 hour test period.
Once our proof of concept testing was complete, we sent our final two designs out to be built and final tested. Our final Phone Hammock Designs are shown below.

Phone Backs by PhoneShield

The Phone Shield Team wanted to offer our customers phone cases with unique options to use the back of the phone. While meeting with our advisors, we discovered the cell phone case industry was overcrowded and expensive to manufacture.
​
We still wanted our customers to experience the PhoneBack Lifestyle, so we designed removable backs for your phones or phone cases.
​
Each PhoneBack is attached to your phone or phone case using 3M removable, but sturdy adhesive tape.
Change the back of your phone to meet your needs.
​
This Phone Back add-on will increase our market share, and will act as an upsell to the Phone Hammock on our sales website.
​

Our PhoneBack Medicine holder was developed when one of our team members went on a day trip with their grandfather. During lunch, the grandfather realized he left his blood pressure medication at home. Boom! That's where the PhoneBack Medicine holder was born! Never forget your life saving meds at home!

Designs That Didn't Make The Cut
This PhoneBack was designed to put your fingers in to hold the phone. The design was too thick in your pocket and too hard to use.
This PhoneBack was designed to wrap the cord around your wrist to keep the phone from being lost in a water park. The design was discarded because the cord kept getting caught on our keys in our pocket.
This PhoneBack was designed to wrap your charging cord for storage. This design did not work, as there was no way to secure the cord, which became unraveled in our pockets.

This PhoneBack was designed to hold ear buds. The design was too thick and did not feel natural while in our pockets.

This design was planned to be a way of storing different small items on your person at all times. However the storage pockets felt uneasy in our pockets and could not hold many items well.
